I didn't have my father around throughout my child, and it made a difference. My mother was present and always made sure that I had what I needed and even some things that me and my brother wanted. To provide those things it sometimes meant working 2 and 3 jobs and more than 8 hour days and 40 hours weeks, but she did it. I said all of that to say this, it's very important to be their for our children, and if you don't have any, it's important to mentor a child. It can be a niece or nephew, with BBBS (Big Brother Big Sister) or any other mentoring program in the country, just be sure to do it. Those few hours a week, couple of days a month really make a difference. Believe me I know.
Giving back to children and even adults is about something bigger than ourselves.
